The short version. The app counts how often it is opened, how often a scan succeeds and which buttons get tapped. That is all it sends.
It never sends the content of a code you scan, never uploads a photo, and never asks who you are.

What the app collects
Exactly four fields, which together make up the entire database:

- one of the four buttons was tapped: search or open, share, copy, continue
- the flashlight was switched on
About the install identifier
It is not your device ID. It is a random number generated on your phone the first time the app runs. Nothing about your handset goes into it: not the device or advertising identifier, not the phone number, not the serial number, nothing from the operating system.
Because of that, it cannot be matched to you in any other app or on any website, and it is meaningless to anyone else. It exists for one purpose: to tell whether the same installation came back the following day. Without it, there is no way to distinguish one person scanning a hundred codes from a hundred people scanning one each.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the app permanently issues a new identifier and severs any connection to the old one.
What the app never collects
- The content of codes you scan. The link, product number, or text inside a barcode is decoded on your phone, shown to you, and never transmitted.
- Photographs or video. The camera feed is processed live on the device to find a barcode. No frame is saved to storage or sent anywhere.
- Your name, email address, phone number or any account details. There is no sign-up and no login.
- Location. The app does not request or receive location of any kind.
- Contacts, files, messages or your other apps.
- Anything for advertising. There are no ads, no ad networks and no advertising identifiers.
Camera permission
The app asks for camera access for the single purpose of reading a barcode in the viewfinder. If you decline, the app simply cannot scan; nothing else about it changes, and you are not asked for anything in exchange. You can revoke the permission at any time in Android Settings.
Why any of this is collected
To find out whether the app is worth continuing to build. Specifically: whether people who install it scan anything at all, whether they come back, and whether the four buttons are useful or clutter. Those questions cannot be answered from a download count. The data is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used to profile anyone.
Where the data is stored
In a database hosted by Supabase, which acts purely as the hosting provider. No other company receives it. Counters are kept for at most 24 months and then deleted.
When your device contacts the server, the server necessarily sees the network request, as any web server would. That connection information is not stored alongside the counters and is not used to identify anyone.
Your choices and your rights
- Stop the collection entirely by uninstalling the app. Nothing further is ever sent.
- Reset your identifier by reinstalling. The old identifier is permanently disconnected from your device.
- Ask about your data. Please write to the address below. In fairness you should know the limit up front: because nothing identifying is stored, there is no way to find records belonging to a particular person. Reinstalling is the reliable way to disconnect yourself from past counters.
If you are in the UK, EU or a region with comparable law, you have rights of access, correction, erasure and objection over personal data. They are honoured to the extent that data can be identified, which for the reason above is very limited.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, contains no ads and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If what the app collects ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
